How do I rent a power bank from Out Of Charge?

Renting takes seconds and works straight from your phone camera. Open your camera and scan the QR code printed on any Out Of Charge station. There is no app to download and no account to create. The station screen shows the price, you confirm, and a fully charged power bank is released from its bay. Take it with you, charge your phone on the move, and return it to any participating station when you are done. The whole process, from scanning to walking away with power, usually takes under a minute.

Which phones and devices do the power banks charge?

Every Out Of Charge power bank has three cables built directly into the unit: Lightning for iPhone, USB-C for most modern Android phones, Samsung and iPads, and micro-USB for older devices. That means you can charge virtually any phone, tablet, pair of wireless earbuds, games handheld or other USB device without carrying your own cable. Because the cables are part of the power bank, there is nothing extra to remember and nothing to lose, so it works for friends and family on different phones too.

Where can I return the power bank?

You can return your power bank to any participating Out Of Charge station across the UK, not just the one you collected it from. This is what makes the network convenient: collect at the gym, return at a bar, a golf club or another venue later. To return it, slot the power bank into any free bay until it clicks. The station recognises the unit, the rental closes automatically, and your charge stops. There is nothing to sign and no staff to find.

How much does it cost to rent a power bank?

Out Of Charge is pay-as-you-go, charged by the hour, with a capped daily maximum so a rental never runs away with you. You only pay for the time you keep the power bank, and the exact price for your location is shown clearly on the station screen before you confirm. There are no sign-up fees or hidden charges. If you return the power bank quickly you pay for less time; if you keep it all day, the daily cap is the most you will be charged.

What happens if I keep the power bank or do not return it?

You can keep a power bank for as long as you need it. Your rental simply continues until you return it, up to the capped daily maximum shown on the station screen. If a power bank is not returned at all, the rental converts to a one-off non-return fee, again displayed up front before you rent, which covers the cost of the unit. Returning it to any participating station across the UK stops the charge straight away, so it always pays to drop it back when you are finished.

Is there a phone charging station at my gym or venue?

Out Of Charge stations are rolling out across gyms and fitness clubs, golf clubs, leisure centres, entertainment venues, bars, restaurants and hotels throughout the UK. To find your nearest one, use the Find A Station page and tell us your town or postcode, and we will point you to the closest station and let you know as new locations go live near you. If your regular gym, club or venue does not have one yet, you can suggest it to us, and we will approach them about installing a station at no cost to the venue.

How can my venue get an Out Of Charge station?

Venues partner with Out Of Charge at no installation cost and with no staffing required. We place, stock and maintain the station for you, and it runs entirely self-service: guests scan, rent and return on their own. In return your venue improves its customer experience and earns a share of every rental as a passive, additional revenue stream. It suits gyms, golf clubs, leisure and entertainment venues, and hospitality. To get started, fill in the Partner With Us form and we will be in touch to arrange installation.
